Official Trailer for Rod Lurie's Nothing But the Truth
Don't reveal the source. The official trailer for Rod Lurie's Nothing But the Truth has just debuted today on AOL. The film stars Kate Beckinsale as a reporter in Washington DC who faces a possible jail sentence for outing a CIA agent and refusing to reveal her source. I've heard some very, very good things, including that it may be one of the best films of the year. The trailer looks intense and I'm anxious to find out the full story. I'm coincidentally about to head out the door to catch a screening of this film, since I missed it up in Toronto. I'll definitely let you know what I think, but in the meantime, fire up this trailer and enjoy!
More Sci-Fi - Disney's Race to Witch Mountain Trailer
Today is just chock full of sci-fi left and right, except this is the least exciting debut. In addition to the Star Trek trailer and Moon photos, we've also got the first full official trailer for Race to Witch Mountain staring Dwayne Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, and Alexander Ludwig. This is a modern day remake of Disney's 1975 film Escape to Witch Mountain about a cab driver who is hired to protect two siblings with paranormal powers from the clutches of an organization that wants to use the kids for their nefarious plans. The one thing I'll say - this is definitely not what you'll be expecting. It looks like a big budget sci-fi remake, but doesn't actually look that good. It may be fun in the end, but that's about it. Take a look for yourself.
Must Watch: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Trailer - What Do You Think?
My name is James Tiberius Kirk! The first full trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek has arrived online in glorious high resolution today after showing in theaters all weekend. Given most people have already had a chance to watch it, all that's left to do is discuss whether Abrams has pulled it off or not. Personally, I love this trailer, I think it does a great job of introducing us to Abrams' completely re-imagined world of Star Trek. Sure, it's not like the Trek we all know from the past, but those days are long gone. This is Abrams' reboot, his re-imagination of a beloved franchise, and it looks refreshingly badass (you'll see what I mean). It's a new Star Trek, and it looks like an incredibly exciting and entertaining modern day version.
Worth Watching - Nov 16: Bent Hamer's O'Horten Trailer
The trailer for the Norwegian indie film O'Horten arrived earlier this week, and although I wasn't too fond of the film itself, I thought I'd feature this trailer for those who may be interested in checking it out. O'Horten is a charming film about the 67-year-old Odd Horten (played by Bård Owe), who retires from his position as a train engineer after 40 years. This shouldn't be taken the wrong way, but O'Horten is a small film, it has that very indie feel to it. While this trailer isn't anything amazing, it does at least feature on of my favorite elements of the film - the music written by Norwegian band Kaada. I hope you enjoy!
Rockin' Christmas TV Spot for Frank Miller's The Spirit!
We already ran the official final trailer for The Spirit previously, but Lionsgate has launched on more TV spot worth checking out. This may be the last of any Spirit footage we share, just because I'm tired of running the same stuff, especially when all that's left to see is what they won't show us in the trailers. The joke here is that this is the "Christmas Spirit" trailer - you'll know exactly what I mean when you watch it. It also hits theaters on Christmas Day, so Lionsgate is pulling every last trick in the book to try and drum up some interest in this. It's at least very creative and entertaining. Did it work? You tell me…
Fight Back! Another Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer!
Another new Harry Potter trailer already?! Why do you taunt us so, Warner Brothers? Exactly one week before the film was originally supposed to hit theaters (before it got moved to next July), they've debuted yet another full trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It was only a few weeks ago that we brought you the exciting international trailer, which I thought might've been the last new footage we'd see from the Harry Potter world until sometime next year, but I guess not. This trailer is a lot darker (both literally and figuratively) than we've seen before - but definitely shows us what this sixth film in the franchise is all about. And from the looks of it, it's a mix of comedy and intensity. Sounds good to me!
Interesting New Trailer for Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road
A rather interesting trailer for Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road has popped up over on Variety today. Coming off of the Watchmen trailer from yesterday, this is a much more subdued and mellow look at one of this year's most anticipated upcoming dramas. I'm still not sure whether it's going to be anything really amazing or just a good solid drama - that has yet to be seen. However, early reports have been saying that "Revolutionary Road is a tremendously impressive emotional drama, cleverly put together, beautifully composed, and nicely edited." With that said, take a look at this brand new trailer for Revolutionary Road.
Must Watch: Second Full Trailer for Zack Snyder's Watchmen!
As promised, Zack Snyder has delivered the second full trailer for Watchmen today. It will also be showing in theaters front of Quantum of Solace this weekend. If you're as stunned as me at how phenomenal this all looks, then I'm excited that we're all on the same page! This is a definite improvement over the first trailer, which already kicked ass, so I'm sure most fans will be even more insanely excited by the end. They did reuse some of the same footage from the first trailer, but it doesn't really matter, because we still get a glorious look at what may be one of the greatest comic book movies of all-time - just as the graphic novel itself is one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. Are you ready for the Watchmen?
Must Watch: Teaser Trailer for Roland Emmerich's 2012!
Look closely. Those aren't just mountains you see above. Watch the trailer and you'll find out. The first epic teaser for Roland Emmerich's 2012 has just hit. It has one of those "oh shit" moments in it that only Emmerich could pull off. Is this the next Day After Tomorrow or something more? This is the perfect teaser for those who know nothing about the end of the world in 2012 or nothing about the movie. I think the reaction to this is going to be intense. I also think this has the potential to be a very epic movie. This doesn't show enough to give us an idea of what the plot will actually be about, but damn, that was crazy!
Harrison Ford is Back Again in the Crossing Over Trailer
So Harrison Ford isn't actually retired yet? He next stars in another (non-Indiana Jones) movie called Crossing Over, a drama about immigrants and illegally crossing US borders. Ford plays an immigration cop and is just one piece of a much bigger puzzle. Crossing Over is an ensemble film that deals with the border, document fraud, the asylum and green card process, work-site enforcement, naturalization, the office of counter terrorism and the clash of cultures. This is a very well made trailer that's quite intense and does a great job of setting up the film. So take a look at it and let us know what you think about it?
Gort Lives! Another Awesome Day the Earth Stood Still Trailer!
Finally we get to see some Gort! MySpace has debuted another international trailer for The Day the Earth Stood Still. At this point I don't think I really need to introduce this any more or say much about it. However, all I should say is that you need to watch this trailer. Is everyone finally coming over to the good side on this one? Or are there still a few of you that are skeptical about it? To me, this is just proof that Hollywood can actually remake classics and deliver a great movie in the end. At this point there's nothing left to do except wait until we finally get to see this. And in the meantime, check out the new trailer.
One More Final Trailer for Baz Luhrmann's Australia
Given it's a rather quiet weekend, I thought it might be fitting to feature Fox's final trailer for Baz Luhrmann's Australia. When you watch this you might finally realize why I feel like this has the potential to be this year's Best Picture. Despite the film is just now being finished, I still think it will have an great run at the box office, or I so I'm hoping. I don't care if it's nearly three hours long, I'm anxious to be immersed in Luhrmann's wonderfully vivid world to see a love story that only he could tell. The story actually focuses on the aboriginal kid as the connection between the two lovers, Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. Whatever happens with this movie in the end, tourism is Australia is going to blossom.
It's Here - First Teaser Trailer for Pixar's Up!
It's not much, but it's here, the first official teaser trailer for Pixar's Up. For audiences that have never been introduced to Pixar's next adventure, or the character that it's all about, it's a great little introduction. Unfortunately we still don't know know much about where it'll go next (once he lands where he's going), but I still can't wait to find out. The character of Carl Fredricksen is being voiced by Ed Asner and is inspired by Disney legends Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. I'm so excited to finally be back in the swing of things with the next big Pixar movie, because I love everything they do and can never patiently wait for more.
Must Watch: One Final Trailer for Disney's Bolt
Is it really fully awesome? Oh yes it is! One more final trailer for Disney's Bolt has debuted to give us one more tease before the movie hits theaters on Thanksgiving. I'm so excited to run this trailer because I've seen Bolt and loved it and want to make sure everyone decides to spend their hard-earned money on Bolt instead of that pile of crap known as Madagascar 2. Everyone loves that little hamster named Rhino, who gets some extra exposure in this trailer, but it was the cat (and whoever voiced her) named Mittens that really made this movie for me. There is so much to love about Bolt that many may find themselves calling this their favorite animated movie of all-time after it hits theaters. So check out this last trailer and enjoy!
Clive Barker's Book of Blood Trailer - For True Fans Only!
The first stills we brought you for Clive Barker's upcoming Book of Blood adaptation pretty much screamed "for true horror fans only," if the title didn't already. Now we have the first trailer for the movie (thanks to Dread Central), and let me just say clearly now, this is really only for bloody-thirsty aficionados. I say that not just because the film borders on nightmare-inducing - you're pretty much guaranteed that anytime you have a crucifixion scene - but also because only a small audience will probably really enjoy it. I just hope this doesn't go the way of Barker's last effort, The Midnight Meat Train. I'm still trying to catch a screening of that since the release was so restricted. Check out the trailer if you dare!
Must Watch: Full Trailer for Jim Carrey's Hilarious Yes Man
Warner Brothers has debuted a second full trailer for Jim Carrey's holiday comedy Yes Man. This definitely looks funny and thoroughly entertaining, even though I'm not sure if I'm tired of Carrey's humor yet or not. Interestingly absent from this trailer is any of the Harry Potter themed scenes or much of Zooey Deschanel, besides a quick introduction. I guess they're trying to sell its other finer comedic aspects rather than remind fans that the latest Harry Potter was moved to July. And I'll reiterate my same thoughts that I had from the first trailer - this reminds me too much of Liar Liar, which isn't exactly bad, but that movie came out back in 1997 and there's no need for a re-imagining of that comedy so soon. Thoughts?
Final Trailer for Kate DiCamillo's The Tale of Despereaux
What a cute little mouse! Universal has debuted the final trailer for their upcoming holiday animated movie, The Tale of Despereaux. Unlike DreamWorks' Monsters vs Aliens, I don't think this looks that great. As much as everyone will probably say they loved it when they watch it, it won't be one of those new classic animated movies, at least that's what I think. They repeat the same exact jokes that they used the first time around, which doesn't amuse me, and they finally give us a taste of what the actual story is about, which yet again, doesn't appeal to me. Okay fine, I admit, by the end of this, it starts to look fun.
First Full Trailer for Darnell Martin's Cadillac Records
Sex had a sound? Danger had a rhythm? I'm asking these questions because I'm not sure if I believe them. The full trailer for Sony's Cadillac Records has finally debuted and it doesn't seem that impressive. It actually looks kind of fun, in a comedic sense, and has one hell of a cast - Beyoncé Knowles, Adrien Brody, Jeffrey Wright, Gabrielle Union, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mos Def, and so many more. I'll definitely give it a shot but I'm not expecting to walk out amazed. It definitely seems entertaining but not as everlasting as some of the other recent music history exposés like Dreamgirls and Talk To Me.
Two New Epic Day the Earth Stood Still TV Spots
Nothing better to do on election day while waiting for the results to start coming in? How about checking out a few new TV spots from Fox's upcoming The Day the Earth Stood Still. Am I still the only one who really thinks this looks great? I don't have an attachment to the original, but that doesn't matter, because this remake still looks pretty damn awesome. A couple of things to mention from these TV spots - first, the line "your planet?" is quite badass; second, Gort is huge and looks like he's going to tear our planet a new asshole. That intensity combined with the sleek look of this is what makes me so excited for it.
Must Watch: DreamWorks's Monsters vs Aliens Teaser Trailer
The first trailer for DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs Aliens has hit the web today. Years ago, the government started a special program to put together a ragtag team of monsters for our own protection. As a last resort, on a desperate order from the President, the motley crew of monsters is finally brought out of secrecy and called into action to combat the aliens and save the world from imminent destruction. I've seen quite a bit of this movie and I'm loving all of it so far. I'm not sure how they did it, but I think has DreamWorks finally figured out how to make great animated movies (maybe it was to get rid of Shrek). Either way, this is a great introduction to the film and only our very first look at plenty more to come.
